Global Café Brings International Leaders Together to Explore Religious Freedom in the United States
Global Ties Arizona, in partnership with the City of Chandler, recently welcomed civic and policy leaders from 18 countries to the Chandler Museum for a Global Café exploring religious freedom in America.
The conversation examined the First Amendment, civic participation, interfaith dialogue, and the roles that faith communities, government, and civic institutions play in strengthening communities. Panelists also discussed how leaders can work across differences, respect freedom of conscience, and build greater trust and understanding.
The panel featured Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke; Rev. Monica Whitaker, Rector of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church; and Liam Julian, Chief of Programs & Public Policy at the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute for American Democracy. The conversation was moderated by Kristin Allen, President & CEO of Global Ties Arizona. Councilmember Christine Ellis welcomed the international delegation on behalf of the City of Chandler. Global Ties Arizona also thanks Jody Crago and the Chandler Museum team for hosting the event, as well as David Luna, Ed.D., Chairman of the Global Ties Arizona Board of Directors, for helping welcome our international guests and community members.
The event was made possible with support from Arif Mahmood Kazmi and the Arizona Muslim Community; Astria & Associates Realty; Charles and Christiana Chiu, Taiwanese community leaders; Kevin Dang, PharmD, MBA, and the Vietnamese Buddhist Community of Arizona; and PALIT self-custodial crypto wallet, represented by Joshua and Charmel Dela Cruz. We also thank our Hospitality Partner, Peddler’s Son, for providing coffee and refreshments.
